Anna LeahyOURCA CO-DIRECTOR: Professor Anna Leahy, Ph.D., is the Co-Director of OURCA and an Associate Professor in Department of English, Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Anna Leahy's book Constituents of Matter won the Wick Poetry Prize. Her poetry and nonfiction appear widely in anthologies and journals, including Crab Orchard Review, Cream City Review, The Journal, and The Southern Review. Her essay in The Pinch was a Notable in The Best American Essay 2013. She teaches in the MFA and BFA programs, curates the Tabula Poetica reading series, and edits TAB: The Journal of Poetry & Poetics. With Sciences Librarian Douglas Dechow, she writes in the Lofty Ambitions blog.


Julye Bidmead

 OURCA CO-DIRECTOR: Dr. Julye Bidmead is the Co-Director of OURCA, the Director of the Office of Fellowships and Scholar Programs, and an Associate Professor of Religious Studies in Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Science. She received a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University in Method and Theory of Religion. Prior to joining Chapman University in 2007, she held faculty positions at Miami University (OH), James Madison University, and California State University, Fresno. Dr. Bidmead teaches classes in Religious Studies, First Year Foundation (FFC), and the University Honors Program. She has won several teaching awards including the Valerie Scudder Award and Pedagogical Innovative Award. Dr. Bidmead's publications include The Akitu Festival: Religious Continuity and Royal Legitimation in Mesopotamia (Gorgias Press, 2014), Invest Your Humanity (Pickwick, 2016), and numerous articles on Near Eastern religion, ritual studies, and gender. Her most recent research project, Recovering Women's Rituals in the Ancient Near East (Equinox Press), explores women's religious roles and rites of passage in ancient Israel, Mesopotamia, and Canaan. Dr. Bidmead is currently the Education Director and field archaeologist on the Jezreel Expedition, where she spends her summers excavating the world of the ancient Israelites.


Lisa KendrickOURCA COORDINATOR: Lisa Kendrick received her B.A. in Communications with an Emphasis in Film and Television Production from Chapman University in 1987. She worked briefly for PCTV in Placentia before entering the apparel industry. In 2005, Lisa received a Teaching Credential and taught fourth grade at St. Joseph’s Elementary School in Long Beach. She returned to the apparel industry until 2014, when she accepted her position with OURCA at Chapman University.


Jessica BocinskiOURCA ASSISTANT AND LEAD OURCA AMBASSADOR: Jessica Bocinski is a senior undergraduate student completing her B.A. in Art History and B.A. in Anthropology from the Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Chapman University. She has participated in several OURCA programs including the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship, Scholarly Research and Creative Activity Grant, Undergraduate Research Day, and OURCA Ambassadors. Jessica is also an Art Collections Assistant for Chapman University's Art Collections.
