Harry Cheney has taught at Chapman University for 26 years. His classroom is the Foley Stage, where he has taught hundreds of students to create eloquent cacophony. He has worked as a sound editor for more than 30 years and is a member of the Motion Picture Editors Guild and the Motion Picture Sound Editors society.

His feature film credits include Legends of the Fall; Bottle Rocket; Guarding Tess; Poetic Justice and Child’s Play, where he witnessed the birth of Chuckie the killer doll. He also worked with the talented team that won the Academy Award for sound editing on Bram Stoker’s Dracula where he fulfilled his lifelong dream of working with Francis Ford Coppola.

Cheney’s television credits include Smallville; Gilmore Girls and Party of Five – a show which drove him to the edge of despair with its inane dialogue and hackneyed storylines. He has been nominated for several Emmy and Golden Reel awards, which the voters had the good taste not to bestow on him.

His favorite movie is The Sound of Music, and he ignores the snickering of snobby cinema aesthetes.
