» Borrowing Materials for University of Massachusetts Global Patrons

Please read the updated Document Delivery service procedures to provide access to Leatherby Libraries physical materials.

Complete the following two-step process to initiate a document delivery service request:

Step 1: Locate items in the online library catalog and use the “Place a Hold” feature to request an item. University of Massachusetts Global patrons will be prompted to enter their name, University ID number, and library PIN to authenticate and complete the request.

Step 2: UMass Global patrons must email the Circulation Dept. at libcirc@chapman.edu to request that their item(s) need to be shipped. This email must also include their current physical home address.

Items will not be shipped if current physical home address is not confirmed.

Circulation staff will pull the items from the library collection. Items will be packaged and shipped to the patron’s physical home address. All packages will include a return mailing label to be used when shipping the items back to the library.

The following items are ineligible for shipping through the Document Delivery Service: Physical course reserves; and items from the Huell Howser Archives, the Center for American War Letters Archives, and the Frank Mt. Pleasant Library of Special Collections and Archives. Please see Library Pick-Up Service for additional details.

If you have any questions, please contact the Circulation Department at libcirc@chapman.edu or call (714) 532-7723.

Patrons can renew most items by accessing their library account online, utilizing the MyLibrary! application, or calling the UMass Global library assistant at (800) 344-5756 Ext. 1. Items cannot be renewed if they have reached a maximum renewal limit or are requested by another patron.

Patrons are responsible for keeping track of all due dates when renewing online; only system posted due dates are valid.

Returning Materials

Patrons are responsible for returning borrowed items by the due date to the Leatherby Libraries. Do not return items to any University of Massachusetts Global Campus. Items are not considered returned until they are received at the Leatherby Libraries. Items can take up to 7 business days in transit before they reach the library. Shipping days are factored into the checkout time. Patrons will use the provided Return Label and envelope to mail items back to the Leatherby Libraries. Retain the USPS Tracking Slip that includes the tracking number in case items are lost in transit.

Interlibrary Loan Service

The Interlibrary Loan Department is currently processing requests for journal articles. Limited processing for physical items is also available. See the Interlibrary Loan page for more information.
