The Fowler School of Engineering has a limited number of new 13-inch MacBook Pros to provide incoming first-year and transfer students to the Fall 2024 term. If you aren't sure whether you need a new computer, check our Computer Recommendations page.
To be considered for a computer, please read our terms and conditions below and complete the form by the program deadline of April 28, 2024. We will notify laptop recipients as soon after decisions are made.
Preference will be given to students with demonstrated financial need.
Program Terms and Conditions
Chapman University will provide select students a MacBook Pro to participate in class and complete assignments. The MacBook Pro will be configured as follows: 2.4GHz Intel Quad-Core Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 4.1GHz, Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655, 16GB 2133MHz
If you are provided a MacBook, you will need to agree to the program’s terms and conditions, which will include the following items:
- The computer will be your property as long as you remain enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits per semester and active in a Fowler Engineering major.
- If you are forced to leave the program due to academic or performance issues, or if you elect on your own to leave the program before graduating, the computer will need to be returned in working order as originally issued or the value of the computer at the time of departure according to a depreciation schedule will need to be paid to the University
- It is expected that you will have and use this equipment on a regular basis in class and out of class to perform coursework as needed.
- While enrolled, the University will maintain administrator rights in order to manage institutionally licensed software.
- The equipment will be covered by AppleCare™ for the first two years of your program. Any additional insurance necessary to cover loss or damage will not be covered by Chapman University.
- Chapman University will not be responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged equipment and you must report this to the Fowler School of Engineering Office of the Dean to replace the equipment. Replacement requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
- Any university-licensed software may not be removed, altered or copied.
- When you graduate, you will be able to keep this equipment, but your access to university-supplied and licensed software will be eliminated.

Need a laptop?
The Laptop Loan Program allows qualified students to borrow a MacBook Pro or Dell Precision laptop from the Fowler School of Engineering for use during the semester.
