» Fowler Engineering Circuit

The Fowler Engineering Circuit (FEC), a student leadership and advisory council composed of Fowler School of Engineering students functions as a student-led initiative. The Fowler Senator, a faculty representative, and the Dean of the Fowler School of Engineering (FSE) serve to support the Fowler Engineering Circuit.

As connectivity is essential for circuits, the Fowler Engineering Circuit’s purpose is to establish communication between FSE students and university administrators within the Fowler School of Engineering to connect the student body and administrative personnel. Connectivity is a fundamental component of enhancing the Chapman experience for FSE students.

Eligible students interested in joining FEC must complete an application and upload a resume.

Responsibilities, Time Commitments, and Eligibility

The primary goal of the Fowler Engineering Circuit is to engage university administrators in discussions regarding the needs, perspectives, and engagements of Fowler Engineering students. Additionally, the council collaborates with the Fowler Engineering Senator to design school-wide initiatives and events tailored to enrich the experience of Fowler Engineering students.

Support the Dean, the Fowler School of Engineering staff, and Fowler School of Engineering faculty by collaborating closely and providing assistance.
Effectively communicate with Chapman community members via Slack, and email, ensuring timely responses.
Represent the Fowler School of Engineering at various events such as Commencement, Panther for a Day, Discover Chapman Day, Preview Day, New Student Orientations, Seminar Speaker Series, Academic Advising Sessions, Career Events, Workshops, and other Fowler Engineering-hosted events.
Act as a Fowler School of Engineering Ambassador, engaging in outreach activities for prospective students, FSE peer mentoring, and extending outreach beyond Swenson Hall into the Orange community.
Facilitate student connections within the FSE community, fostering relationships among alumni, faculty/staff, clubs, and other programs and schools.
Contribute to a committee dedicated to creating at least one project/initiative throughout the academic year.

Attend a minimum of three (3) FEC meetings during the academic semester. The council holds five meetings per academic semester.
Serve as a Fowler School ambassador during at least two student events hosted by Fowler per semester (ex: Orientation, Discover Chapman events, Student Panels, Preview Day, Commencement events, Zoom sessions with prospective students).
Work on a committee project/initiative during the course of the academic semester that falls under one of the following focuses:
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
- Sustainability
- Community Building
- Research Involvement
- Engagement and Outreach

Rising sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student in an FSE major and/or minor.
Maintains a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and stands in good academic standing without any administrative, behavioral, or conduct sanctions.
Demonstrates professionalism and a positive attitude in interactions within the FSE and Chapman Community.
Displays promptness and reliability in work ethic, excelling in collaborative team environments.
Effectively communicates via Slack and/or email, ensuring timely responses.
