These compiled resources are provided for students who identify as part of the LGBATQ+ community and/or are a family member/friend/advocate.  Connect to the Chapman on-campus community, as well as a starting search point for local organizations.  An additional set of career, advocacy, and support sites are also listed, but do know that this is not an exhausted list, there are many more organizations to assist you.  Please come see a Career Educator in the Office of Career Professional Development as you search for your next internship/career option.

Resources for LGBTQIA students

Chapman University is deeply committed to enriching diversity and inclusion through on-going efforts to cultivate a welcoming campus climate for all members of the Chapman community.

Chapman celebrates and teaches diversity through academic coursework, events, speakers, student clubs, and workshops.

The nation’s largest statewide lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender civil rights organization dedicated to creating a fair and just society.

Trans and queer youth uniting for racial and gender justice

Nonpartisan, non-profit organization whose mission is to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country.

Civil Rights organization advocating for transgender communities

National network that believes that all students deserve a safe and affirming school environment where they can learn and grow.  There is a local Orange County chapter.

Tackles tough issues to shape the narrative and provoke dialogue that leads to cultural change. Protects all that has been accomplished and creates a world where everyone can live the life they love.

The Intersex Society of North America (ISNA) is devoted to systemic change to end shame, secrecy and unwanted genital surgeries for people born with an anatomy that someone decided is not standard for male or female.

Workplace Advocates

Diversity management, jobs, career advice, things NOT to say

Scholarship was established to help college students financially who have demonstrated a desire to complete school and work in a field that would benefit Orange County communities.

Graduating high school seniors and college/vocational students. Awards up to $2,500.00 available to residents (or children of residents) of Orange County between ages of 17-24 who identify as LGBTQI, and to straight allies who have directly supported LGBTQI youth/community.

LifeWorks awards $40,000 to eligible LGBTQA youth who have demonstrated passion for community involvement/volunteerism

Funds between $500 and $1000 to a gay male in Southern California who has excelled in and outside the classroom through scholarship, community service, and a commitment to advancing the civil rights of the LGBT population.

Memorial scholarship of a gay and lesbian civil rights advocate open to at least a second year law student with demonstrated financial need who exhibits academic ability and leadership potential.

Funds scholarships for Southern California students who have shown a commitment to the advancement of civil rights in the LGBT community.

Funds a $1000 scholarship for LGBT students of Armenian descent who are actively involved in an organization that benefits the LGBT community and are attending a college or university in California.

Funds scholarships for residents of Orange County, CA who have completed 1 full year of post-high school education and whose roots of activism are evident in the OC lesbian & gay community.
