Fall 2019 & Spring 2020 Cost of Attendance

The following is a breakdown of the estimated cost of attendance forundergraduateinternational students at Chapman University for the 2019-2020 academic year. All rates are subject to change.

All international students studying in the U.S. are required to have health insurance (whether it is their own, or what is offered by Chapman University).

  • Full-time Tuition: $54,540
  • Student fees (maximum, annual): $384
  • Living expenses (estimated): $16,454
  • Books, supplies, transportation, health insurance (estimated): $8,140
  • Total annual estimated expense: $79,518

The total annual estimated expense is the minimum amount of financial verification required in order for Chapman University to issue an I-20 or DS-2019 for the upcoming academic year.

+ - Cost for Dependants

If you plan to bring family to the United States, you will be required to verify additional funds for their expenses. The estimated expenses for dependents is:

  • First dependent: $5,000 per year
  • Second dependent: $2,500 per year

Cost of Attendance for Future Years

For planning purposes, it is safe to assume a 4-percent increase in the yearly cost of attendance:

  • 2020-21: $82,698
  • 2021-22: $86,005
  • 2022-23: $89,445

Financial Aid for International Students

International students are eligible for merit and need-based scholarships:

  • First-year applicants are eligible for merit-based scholarships of up to $32,000 per year.
  • Transfer applicants are eligible for merit-based scholarships of up to $15,000 per year.

Chapman offers limited need-based aid of up to $15,000 per year for international applicants.

Merit scholarships are based primarily on a student’s grades and test scores; additional achievements may also be considered. Merit-based scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the Admission Committee. Additional scholarships are available through individual departments.

Chapman also encourages international students to search for outside scholarships. We recommend that students contact the EducationUSA Advising Center nearest them or that they conduct a search online (keep in mind that some scholarships require US Citizenship).
