Dean Michael Ibba

Welcome to Schmid College of Science and Technology, where our nationally and internationally acclaimed team of teachers, scholars, and researchers are fully committed to mentoring and inspiring the next generation of scientific leaders. Our undergraduate and graduate students explore a broad range of modern scientific disciplines using advanced approaches ranging from in silico analyses, to molecular level experimentation to fieldwork. Significant advances in science and technology require crossing conventional disciplinary barriers. From day one, our Grand Challenge Initiative program encourages our undergraduate students to explore outside their major and address interdisciplinary questions in collaborative teams. To ensure our students and faculty remain at the scientific forefront, all have access to cutting-edge instrumentation and the support of an exceptional staff infrastructure in the newly opened Keck Center for Science and Engineering. Opportunities for student-faculty research, professional internships, and study abroad experiences allow Schmid students to personalize their education at Chapman further. By experiencing a learning and research environment that integrates classroom, online and lab studies, our students graduate well prepared for a broad range of careers. As they go on to their post-graduate pursuits, they will continue to lead the way in pushing the boundaries of scientific knowledge, discovery, and technological innovation.

It is an exciting time for Schmid College. We continue to invest in the people and technology to ensure our students and faculty will remain leaders in modern science and technology while experiencing a diverse and inclusive learning environment. I encourage you to explore our degree offerings, the research being done by our talented students and faculty, and the opportunities available within our college and across Chapman’s campuses. I hope that you will consider joining our community of students, teachers, and scholars.
