We are a dynamic and fast-growing program that focuses on all aspects of Italian language, literature and culture. We are also home to the first Endowed Professorship of the Department of Languages at Wilkinson College of Humanities and Social Sciences: the Paul & Marybelle Musco Professorship in Italian Studies. Our current selection of courses boasts of enthusiastic, dedicated teachers and excellent students who, together, make for a fun and intellectually stimulating experience in Italian. Chapman University's very italophile character offers numerous possibilities to immerse yourself in Italian through the caffe italiano, the activities of the Italian Club, the International Food Fair, Italian film nights, and other special events throughout the year. Future courses on the very near horizon comprise advanced Italian language and stylistics as well as a variety of offerings in Italian culture, literature, and cinema. Course work in Italian combines a rigorous academic program with relevant sociocultural aspects of Italian in order to maximize the students' potential and creativity that leads to a successful combination of linguistic competence and cultural awareness fully in line with Chapman University's goal of global citizenship. The incorporation of current technology is facilitated by Chapman University's many state-of-the-art classrooms. In 2010, the Italian Studies section is proud to offer its first Travel Course in Venice.
