Haily Giczy

In 2008, Chapman's Phi Alpha Theta history honor society was named best chapter in the nation among schools without history graduate programs - national recognition of the History Department excellence. As president of the Honor Society, Haily organized panels on writing the senior thesis and graduate school, a camping trip, and a food drive. She played a key role running the regional 2008 Phi Alpha Theta conference held at Chapman which drew over 150 students from area universities to present their history research papers.

Haily had this to say about her experiences as a history major:

"When my Senior Thesis advisor nominated me for a sponsored student research grant I was shocked --- and incredibly overjoyed. My professors and mentors had expressed such faith in my research and writing abilities that I applied for a grant in order to conduct research in Los Angeles for my Senior Thesis. I am still extremely appreciative that the history department faculty has expressed such support for my research and thesis, and I cannot wait to deliver my findings at the Phi Alpha Conference at UCLA this spring."
