George McGovern, former U.S. Senator and 1972 Presidential Candidate visited Chapman University on August 26th, 2009. McGovern presented Chapman's prestigious Schweitzer award and took time to visit with students from the History Department. George McGovern, an advocate for global nutrition, has been the Director of the Food for Peace Program and United Nations Ambassador on World Hunger. He also is the recipient of the World Food Prize for his work on global nutrition. His visit was a unique and special occasion for the history students and faculty. (McGovern pictured above)
