Jennifer Waldeck (B.S., Ohio University, M.A., California State University, Long Beach, Ph.D., University of California, Santa Barbara) specializes in instructional and organizational communication research, with an emphasis on the effective use of new and emerging technologies for learning purposes. Her research has appeared in such journals as Communication Monographs, Communication Education, The Journal of Applied Communication Research, Communication Research Reports, and The Journal of Business Communication. She has contributed to several edited volumes including Communication Yearbook, New Directions in Group Communication, and the Handbook of Instructional Communication. She has earned "Top Three" Paper designations at the National Communication Association, International Communication Association, and Eastern Communication Association. She has authored several instructional manuals and texts and recently coauthored a textbook entitled Business and Professional Communication in the Digital Age, to be published by Wadsworth Cengage in 2012.
Waldeck currently serves on the editorial board of Communication Education (a journal of the National Communication Association) and Communication Studies (published by the Central States Communication Association). In addition to research and classroom teaching, Jennifer has served as training and curriculum design consultant to numerous organizations from small entrepreneurial start-ups to global Fortune 500 companies. She regularly teaches COM 310 (Business and Professional Communication), COM 410 (Organizational Communication), COM 498 (Senior Seminar in Communication Studies), and a variety of other courses. She has collaborated with several Chapman students on research projects that have been presented at national and regional conferences. She is currently Chair-Elect of the Instructional Development Division of the National Communication Association, and is responsible for planning the Division’s activities at the 2011 NCA conference.
Away from the office, Jennifer enjoys cooking, travel, reading, movies and television, her Bearded Collies Lili and Quinn, and her cat, Timmy.
