Dr. Gregg Payne

B.A., University of Arizona; M.S., San Diego State University; Ph.D., University of Utah Gregg A. Payne holds a bachelors degree in journalism from the University of Arizona, a Master's degree in mass communication from San Diego State University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Utah. His scholarly work, concerned largely with media effects and media uses and gratifications, has been presented at national academic conferences, published both in the United States and abroad and is included in the abstracts of the International Newspaper Marketing Association. He is a member of a number of academic honorary societies, including Phi Kappa Phi and is listed in Who's Who in California. He has taught for the past seven years at Chapman and prior to that at the University of Washington and the University of Utah. At Chapman, he teaches communication research methods, as well as courses in mass communication, persuasion, gender communication, and group communication. Prior to teaching, Dr. Payne worked for a number of years in the public and private sectors, where he occupied executive positions in public relations and magazine publishing. Dr. Payne also consults widely on business, industry, and academic research projects.
