In today’s complicated and ever changing global society, the study of languages becomes an integral component for understanding other cultures. The Department of Languages is dedicated to enhancing a student’s understanding of what it means to be a global citizen.

Departmental Mission:
The mission of the Department of Languages is to prepare students to become proficient in a language, literature and culture other than English so that they may lead empowered, ethical and productive lives as global citizens. Modern language students, especially majors and minors, make use of their enhanced cultural awareness, inter-cultural sensitivity and global perspective in order to meet the innumerable challenges of an ever increasingly interrelated and interdependent world.
