»Town & Gown: Supporting Chapman for 45 Years

For almost half a century, Town & Gown has provided generous support to Chapman University. Through membership fees and gifts, dozens of students’ educational aspirations have been realized through scholarships, numerous capital improvements completed and inspiring academic advancements have been achieved.

One of Town & Gown’s top priorities is providing scholarship support to Chapman students.  For nearly 25 years the Town & Gown Endowed Scholarship has been helping talented and hardworking students fund their Chapman education.  In addition, Town & Gown recently established a new endowed fund for Arts, Humanities and Sciences at the Leatherby Libraries, which is already providing books to support the liberal arts core that is heart of the university.

Over time, Town & Gown has broadened its mission to include the underwriting of a number of on-campus academic and aesthetic projects. The generous spirit and legacy of Town & Gown can also be seen throughout campus:

  • The Town & Gown Gardens at the Elliott Alumni House (named for members Tom ’60 and Pat ’60 (M.A. ’74) Elliott)
  • The Town & Gown Reading Alcove in the Leatherby Libraries
  • The American flag in the Ambassador George L. Argyros ’59 Global Citizens Plaza
  • The “Milestones on the Road to Freedom” wall in Kennedy Hall
  • Gentle Spring fountain in Escalette Plaza

Major: Creative Writing

If I had the chance to do my undergraduate education all over again, I can proudly say I would not change a single thing.  I owe it all to Chapman University for providing every opportunity to achieve a first-rate education.  This includes, but is not limited to, having exceptional faculty, choice facilities and an unrivaled college spirit that comes with being a Panther.

While at Chapman, I have been living the dream of studying Creative Writing with other aspiring writers, sharing an unparalleled passion for our craft.  It was this collective passion that pushed me to create new opportunities for the aspiring writer.  With the help of other motivated students and Chapman University’s resources, I am proud to say that together, we have created the official campus writers’ society, the Timeless Musings of Chapman, and reinstated the school’s premier literary magazine, Calliope, and I look forward to leading both.

With a year left at Chapman, life after graduation looks exciting.  I plan on attending a graduate writing program and applying for a Fulbright scholarship, pursuing my goals of becoming a writer and a college professor.  My vision has always been to live a life of service, and I believe Chapman University is the vehicle delivering me to the next chapter.

Majors: Business Administration and Political Science,
Minor: Leadership Studies

It would be a colossal understatement to say that my life’s experiences have only played a small part in shaping the person I have become. The past two years have influenced me to transform into what my surrounding conditions require of me. I have grown to love each and every second of the time I spend on assorted things that have made my life. I have a lot of enthusiasm and energy I cannot wait to expend on my college career.

The next two years and for years to come, I anticipate learning about new concepts and exploring different theories, hopefully so I can take that knowledge to better myself. My main goal in life is to become an individual who can make a meaningful contribution to society. I am appreciative of the world I live in and I am looking forward to the experiences that college has to offer in what I hope will be my future.
