A. Gary Anderson

Mr. A. Gary Anderson, a 24-year veteran of the mortgage banking and real estate industries, was chairman and chief executive officer of Directors Mortgage. He purchased Directors Mortgage in 1976 when it had four branch offices and 105 employees. He grew the company to more than 90 offices and 1,800 employees, and in 1991 was the nation’s 15th-largest residential lender with $3.85 billion in loans. 

Marta and Raj Bhathal

Marta and Raj Bhathal, founders of RAJ SWIM, one of the largest swimwear companies in the United States, support Chapman University with The Raj and Marta Bhathal Student Services Center, named in their honor.

Dale E. Fowler '58

Mr. Dale E. Fowler was born at St. Joseph Hospital in Orange. The son of a construction contractor, he grew up in a two-bedroom house in Santa Ana. He graduated from Chapman University (then known as Chapman College) in 1958 with a B.A. in Economics.  

Judith Garfi-Partridge

[alt text] Mrs. Judith Garfi-Partridge is president of CAPA Land management LLC located in Fullerton.  Prior to this, she was president of Peartree Insurance Agency, Inc., as well as founder and president of Eastwood Insurance Services, Inc. which she grew into a multi-million dollar national corporation.

Donald P. Kennedy

Mr. Donald P. Kennedy was chairman emeritus of the First American Corporation, based in Santa Ana, California. Mr. Kennedy’s leadership was credited with expanding the small, one-office family firm, with annual sales of less than $1.5 million, into one of the world’s largest title insurers, with more than $8 billion in sales and hundreds of offices in the United States and abroad. 

The Leatherby Family

[alt text] Mr. Ralph William Leatherby was an Orange County businessman and the patriarch of the philanthropic Leatherby family. He served as a trustee at Chapman College in the 1980s following a term as chairman of the Advisory Board of the George L. Argyros School of Business and Economics, when President James L. Doti served as dean.

The Wilkinson Family

Generations of the Wilkinson family have attended Chapman University, and generations have helped to guide the university’s growth through their generosity and visionary leadership. Chapman alumna Karen Wilkinson ’69 joined the Board of Trustees in 2000, continuing her family’s tradition of service. Karen is associate professor of social sciences and department head of liberal studies at Kettering University in Flint, Michigan.
