BIG for Chapman
The decision to erect the Center for Science and Technology reflects Chapman’s deep commitment and passionate dedication to the success of its students and alumni. Housed within the Center will be the Schmid College of Science and Technology, along with its exemplary programs that span undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs. Students from all of Schmid’s programs will thrive in a space created to address Chapman’s forward looking approach to science education through interdisciplinary study.
BIG for Southern California
With the new $130 million center, we are making a bold statement about Chapman’s commitment to the county’s future and the development of these industries by not only contributing research and knowledge toward business growth, but also providing a talented and well-educated workforce. The growth of science and technology-related industries is critical to the economic future of Orange County and its robust biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device and information technology sectors. Also rapidly growing in the county are the energy, environmental science, green technology and nanotechnology industries.
BIG in Size
At 140,000 square feet, The Center for Science and Technology is Chapman’s most audacious undertaking to date—the largest and most expensive facility ever constructed at the University. Called the scientific foundation of the historic Chapman University campus, the Center will feature a stunning arch entrance and amphitheater, bridging the Hall of Science and the Hall of Technology. In a word, the Center is BIG. So big, in fact, you could fit 2 Hashinger Science Centers, 5 Wilkinson Halls, 6 Oliphant Halls, 9 Doti Halls, or 4 Memorial Halls.
