Visit the Chapman University Student Health Center (CUSH) during business hours to receive your flu shot.

PREVENTION

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick. When you are sick, keep your distance from others to protect them from getting sick.
  • Stay home from work, school and errands when you are sick.
  • Wash your hands OFTEN to protect you from getting germs.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs are spread when a person touches objects contaminated with germs from someone who has touched his or her eyes, nose or mouth. Do not share drinks, water bottles or eating utensils or smokes.
  • Get regular, six to eight hours of sleep daily and eat nutritious food. "Regular" is the operative word. Do not skip meals or try to "make up" hours of sleep. Drink plenty of water. Vitamins, especially Vitamin C daily, is recommended.

If students should get flu like symptoms, i.e., fever, body aches, headaches, they may go to Student Health Services. Influenza screening is available and antiviral medications can be used to shorten the course and severity of the flu.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention www.cdc.gov is a good source of information for preventing and treating the flu.
