Panther Housing Application & SelectionPanther Housing Selection (PHS) is the online process for current undergraduate students to apply for and select a housing assignment for the following academic year. While the Office of Housing and Residence Life accepts applications for on-campus housing year round, there are a couple of priority deadlines: Fall Semester Housing application process takes place during the preceding spring semester Interterm/Spring Semester Housing application is due December 1 Step 1: Complete Housing Application via Chapman Housing Portal Submit your housing application using the Chapman Housing Portal. To access the portal, you will need your Chapman username and password (if you do not have this information, you can contact the IS&T Service Desk. The portal will automatically route you to the proper housing application depending on the time of year and your academic classification. During this process, you will be asked several questions about your living preferences. Students with preferred roommate(s) can indicate this information on the application as well. Students who have special housing needs may indicate so by completing a Special Housing Accommodation Request Form and submitting the appropriate supplemental documentation. It typically takes about 20 minutes to complete an application for on-campus housing. Step 2: Submit your Housing Processing Fee and Confirm Security Deposit A non-refundable $50 Housing Processing Fee is required. All students must also have a Housing Security Deposit of $600 on file with Chapman University. If you are a current resident, you likely already have a deposit on your student account and a duplicate deposit is NOT required. You will be able to confirm the status of your Housing Security Deposit on the final page of your online Panther Housing Selection Application. All payments for the Housing Processing Fee and/or the Housing Security Deposit must be made at the Cashier's Office in the Bhathal Student Services Center. For additional payment questions, please contact the Cashier's Office. Step 3: Select a Preferred Roommate Once the housing application has closed, you will be invited to log back into the Chapman Housing Portal to identify a preferred roommate. You may select a friend who you want to live with, or use the roommate search tool to identify someone who has similar living habits. Once you have found your preferred roommate, you must send them a roommate request through the portal. In return, they must accept your roommate request. Once this is complete, you will be able to go through Panther Housing Selection together. Step 4: Return to the Chapman Housing Portal at Given Timeslot You will be assigned a timeslot based on the community/residential area you preferenced in your application. Return to the Chapman Housing Portal at that time to select your specific room, confirm your roommate and electronically sign your Residence Living License Agreement (RLLA). Read the PHS Guide for more detailed instructions on how to successfully search for roommates online, select your housing assignment, and sign your RLLA. |
