Please report any problems with the laundry facilities to the Office of Housing and Residence Life at 714.997.6603. Repairs cannot be made if students do not report non-operational laundry equipment.

    PARKING

Parking is available for residence hall and apartment residents. A parking permit costs $210.00/year. You are required to register your vehicle with the Office of Public Safety and Transportation Services. Registration does not guarantee a parking space, as it is contingent on space availability. Unregistered vehicles will be subject to ticketing and/or towing. Motorcycles and mopeds should park in any unreserved parking stall and may not park on sidewalks, quad areas, lawns (house residents may not park on their lawns), or any area not specified for motor vehicle travel. For more information please contact Public Safety at 714-997-6763 or x6763 from a campus phone.

The underground parking in Pralle-Sodaro Hall is available for any resident student with a vaild parking permit.

    TIPS TO SAVE ENERGY

Chapman Students are becoming more interested in conserving energy, reducing costs and helping the planet. We appreciate your concern and ask for you assistance in the following ways:

Don't watch TV while listening to the radio.

Don't leave lights, air conditioners, TVs, stereos, or other electric appliances on when not in use.

    Try to take short showers.

Carefully monitor your heating and air-conditioning use.

Use the recycling bins located in each community.

    CABLE

All Residence Hall rooms and University apartments (except Glassell Apartments and University Houses) receive basic cable service. If students would like to purchase premium channels, they may do so by contacting Time Warner at 898-3800. If a TV is not cable-ready, Time Warner will provide a channel box and needed cable jumpers (cords); their office is located in Orange, at 303 W. Palm Ave. You are responsible for the return of all cable boxes directly to Time Warner. If you experience problems on your TV cable, call Telecommunications at 714-744-7011. Residents who live in the University Houses and Glassell Apartments should contact Time Warner to establish cable service.

    ETHERNET ACCESS

Residents of the  Davis Apartments, Harris Apartments, Henley Hall, Morlan Hall, Glass Hall and Pralle-Sodaro Hall have access to the campus network and the Internet through direct 100 Mbps Ethernet connection available in their rooms or apartments. Residents with Microsoft Windows compatible and Macintosh computers can purchase Ethernet cards or wireless network cards to utilize this service at Fry's Electronics or any electronic store. . If you have any questions contact the Help Desk at 714.997.6600 or ext. 6600 from a campus phone.

    PHONE SERVICE

The university phone system offers you many services. You receive an on-campus extension, local calling service, voicemail, redial, call forwarding, call hold, and three way conference calling. You can also purchase call waiting. You will be given an authorization code for long distance calls. Long distance options are available; however, discount AT&T rates are offered through the University system. To establish a long distance access code or for more information please contact the Telecommunications Office 714-744-7011 or at x7011 from a campus phone. In some halls/areas additional phone lines/jacks are not available. Residents who line in University Houses and Glassell apartments should contact the phone company to establish phone service.

    EXTERMINATION

The university contracts with a private company to resolve any pest control problems that may arise. This can be ordered by filling out an online maintenance work request. Periodically, residents will be required to have their room exterminated. In large buildings, areas left unsprayed provide a haven for pests and can undermine efforts to rid other parts of the building of pests. If a resident should fail to prepare his/her room or apartment for extermination there will be a minimum of a $25 fine and the entire building will have to be sprayed again. Use of insect extermination foggers in the residence halls is prohibited.

    LIABILITY

The university does not assume responsibility for any claims for damage sustained by resident of others in their room as a result of their acts or omissions relating to changes or modifications of bunk beds, book shelves, lofts, partitions or other structures. The university is not liable for any property that may be lost, stolen, or damaged in any way wherever this may occur on the premises, including storage facilities. Residents are strongly encouraged to purchase student insurance or to be covered through their parents' homeowner's insurance. If you are interested in the Student Personal Property Plan, please call National Student Services Inc. at 1-800-677-0125 or 1-800-654-6814.

    SODEXHO DINING SERVICES

All students who live in the Residence Halls participate in the university meal plan. The university meal plan provides students with several options for the number of meals they can eat each week in the Betty Hutton Williams Dining Colonnade (BHWDC) located in Argyros Forum. The meal plan also includes Panther Bucks for students to use in all the on campus retail restaurants. The following restaurants will provide students with additional dining variety as well as different operation hours. Located in Argyrous Forum are the Sky Ranch Grill, Salsa Rico, Pantera's and The Freshens Smoothie Company. Located in Beckman Hall is the Cyber Cafe featuring Jazzman's Cafe and Subversions Sub Sandwiches. Please visit our website for more information about our On-Campus Restuarants.

The BHWDC is open for extended hours during meal times. The meal card is part of the university Student Identification Card. Number of meals eaten, Panther Bucks used, and verification of payment of the meal plan are coded on the student ID card. Students will not be admitted to the Dining Colonnade without their ID cards. To replace lost cards please see the Telecommunications Office.

By far the most cost-effective way for apartment residents and commuter friends to dine is to purchase a Commuter Meal Plan.

Plates, silverware, cups, glasses, bowls, trays, or other utensils may not be removed from the Dining Colonnade. Any student who is found to be in possession of Sodexho property outside the servery will be subject to fines and conduct review.

For more information on meal plans, hours and restaurant locations, see the Dining at Chapman website.
