Conflict Mediation
Conflict often places individuals in difficult situations that can be uncomfortable and stressful. It is not unusual for individuals to feel angry, frustrated or helpless in relationships when conflicts are involved. Mediation provides a means to communicate and offers an alternative way to address these feelings and solve problems. Chapman Students are provided with an opportunity to acquire these skills by enrolling in the Peace Studies Conflict Resolution class and to then serve as mediators in the resolution of campus conflicts. Mediation provides students with opportunities to deal with conflict situations in skill-building ways. Roommates, friends, fraternity and sorority members, student workers and club members are encouraged to utilize mediation when conflict arises. Addressing conflict can be difficult and a neutral third party can help resolve issues that may, otherwise, be ignored. Ignoring conflict doesn't make it go away.
