COURSE OVERVIEW: LEAD 325 Leadership / Experiential Learning Lab: Civic Engagement Initiative
This course examines such topics as the relational leadership model, servant leadership, civic responsibility and service through an analysis of Hurricane Katrina and the impact that disaster continues to have on New Orleans and our society. The course will also include a nine-day service-learning trip to New Orleans, where we work with Rebuilding Together on home rebuilding projects.
This 4-credit course is offered during interterm and is listed as LEAD 325: Leadership/Experiential Learning Laboratory, Civic Engagement Initiative. The course began in January 2008, and has provided students with an incredible experiential learning opportunity since. To get a sense of the experience, read the blog from the January 2010 trip!

Course Dates: January 3-27, 2012
Course Meeting Day/Time: M,T,W,TH 9:00am-12:00pm
Course Travel Dates: January 14-23, 2012
Course Cost: The price range for this course is $1,459-$1,605. The cost includes: accommodations in New Orleans, most meals, tranpsortation to-and-from house rebuilding sites, Hurricane Katrina Tour, and supplies. Airfare is NOT included in cost.
Deadlines: A $300 deposit will be due by October 25, 2011.
