what is to live and die

without knowing why

to grow and understand

to learn, take life’s demand

nothing is worth knowing

without the truth sewing

solid threads of reality

superior over surreality

what is real is often painful

to believe the disdainful

yet wanting to live in

a lie can be the sin

this man’s courage

constant under his rage

to uncover this obscured gem

yet his tenderness to protect a stem
