Payment for Summer session is due no later than May 31 each year or the day you register for classes, whichever is later.  Payment for the Fall semester is due no later than July 31 each year, or the day you register for classes, whichever is later.  Payment for the Spring semester is due no later than December 31 each year, or the day you register for classes, whichever is later.  Late registration does not change the payment due dates.

Monthly billing statements are available online only through Chapman eBill.

Students who do not have a Tuition and Fee Master Payment Contract on file with the Business Office, a hold will be placed on your records with the university preventing further enrollment and may result in the withdrawal from summer, fall and/or spring classes.

Students owing any past due amount will not be issued transcripts, diplomas, may be withdrawn from classes and campus housing, and will not be allowed to enroll for any further semester or term.

Interest will be calculated at 10.75% per annum on the outstanding monthly student account balance.  The interest rate is subject to change each June 1.

HEALTH INSURANCE
Full time undergraduate students are required to have health insurance and therefore Sickness Plan 1 is automatically billed to your student account at the time of registration (or you can request an insurance upgrade to Sickness Plan 2).  If you are covered by your own insurance, you may request an insurance waiver by submitting proof of insurance to the Student Health Center no later than the end of the second week of school.  Since insurance coverage may change, you must request a new insurance waiver each year.

Graduate students have the option of purchasing Sickness Plan 1 or Sickness Plan 2. If you purchase a Sickness Plan you must also pay the Health Center Fee.  The deadline to purchase health insurance is the end of the second week of school.  The Sickness Plan must be requested each year to maintain continued coverage.

All International students are required to have health insurance and therefore Sickness Plan 3 is automatically billed to your student account at the time of registration.  If you are covered by your own insurance, you may request an insurance waiver by submitting proof of insurance to the International Student Services Office no later than the end of the second week of school.  Since insurance coverage may change, you must request a new insurance waiver each year.

All students must submit a Health Record and Examination Form prior to their first semester of enrollment.  Health Record and Examination Form (PDF)

Taxpayer Relief Act (1098T)
The Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 provides several new tax benefits for families who are saving for or already paying for higher education. Taxpayers may be eligible to claim a nonrefundable Hope Scholarship Credit or a Lifetime Learning Tax Credit against their federal income taxes. Eligibility for these tax credits is based on certain income tax ceilings. Please contact your tax advisor or accountant for further details regarding eligibility for these tax credits. A 1098T form will be mailed to students each January 31, for the prior tax year.

DEWAR Tuition Refund Insurance
Chapman University has contracted with A.W.G. Dewar Inc. to offer students and parents a tuition insurance policy which would guarantee a refund of all moneys paid to the university in the event that a student suffers a serious illness or accident and must withdraw from the university before the semester is completed. This elective plan covers tuition, fees and on campus housing, and the cost is approximately 1% of the annual cost. You must apply for this coverage directly with A.W.G. Dewar Inc. prior to the first day of classes. Forms are available in the Business Office or DEWAR online.
