The eVillage
is both a physical space and a concept; in that it’s a place where we will
mentor and help entrepreneurs and student entrepreneurs with a number of
resources and events in and around the eVillage. The eVillage is designed for intense 24/7
entrepreneurship. There are conference rooms, kitchens, offices, showers, and
the walls are painted with “idea paint” for white boarding.
An anchoring partner of the eVillage is a Southern California-based accelerator called K5Launch which was founded by four Tech Coast Angel members. In addition to eVillage’s partnership with K5Launch, we are creating a student incubator which will provide Chapman students office space, mentors, and access to professionals such as attorneys, CPAs, and marketing executives.

K5Launch Student Shadow Program
K5Launch-Shadow program description and CurriculumEach K5Launch Shadow program class session lasts 14 weeks. The goal of the K5Launch-Shadow curriculum is to provide the opportunity to a multi-disciplinary team of full time students (ideally 5) to participate in the life of a startup during the K5Launch session. Students have an opportunity to either audit the course, or earn up to 3 independent study credits. K5Launch Fall 2012 session is located on 342 N Glassell next to the Law School building.
All participants need to spend a minimum of 72 hours at K5Launch during the course of the program. K5Launch prefers that at least 1 or 2 students be from the graduate level. The team leads have the responsibility to connect with the startup lead as well as comply with the rules and guidelines of the program.
This is a semester long program consisting of a classroom lectures and two weekly (team) meetings with your assigned startup company. Additional team meetings may be arranged with team faculty advisors and K5 startup mentors. A final exam will cover both theory (presented during the lectures) and practice (team meetings, assignments). At the end of the semester, each student team will present (in front of the class) a synopsis of their assigned startup company, the challenges encountered during the semester, solutions implemented and subsequent results.
