Barrera Parking Structure Dedication
The Chapman community came together on June 8, 2006 to celebrate the dedication of the law school parking structure to Fred L. Barrera in honor of his lifetime of community service to the city of Orange. Barrera, a longtime Orange resident and World War II veteran, was elected to the Orange City Council in 1976 and served five four-year terms – three of those as mayor pro tem. He was also named Orange's Citizen of the Year in 1977. Upon his retirement in 1996, the city council bestowed upon him the title of mayor pro tem emeritus. The parking structure is located behind Chapman’s School of Law at 200 Sycamore Ave., between Glassell and Lemon streets.
