Rande & Adrienne Shaffer, P’08

Rande & Adrienne ShafferRande and Adrienne are proud to be part of this terrific organization. Their involvement with Chapman and the Parents Council has afforded them the opportunity to volunteer their time for the betterment of the students, the parents, and the University.

No strangers to volunteer groups, Rande and Adrienne spent 3 years as members of the Aliso Niguel High School Instrumental Music Boosters where Rande served as president for two of those years. They continue to strive to find ways to participate in the interests of their son, Teren, and were thrilled when he followed his passion to continue his music education at Chapman. They make it a point to attend all of his concerts and recitals throughout the year.

Rande and Adrienne both grew up in Southern California. Rande attended Cal State Northridge and Adrienne attended UCLA and Cal State Northridge. They have been married for 28 years. Both found their way into the insurance industry where Adrienne serves as an employee benefits consultant for a national firm and Rande is self-employed as an independent broker focusing on individual and small group life, health and disability, and long term care insurance.


Jerry & Gemma Wolf P’07, '11

Jerry & Gemma Wolf Jerry and Gemma Wolf are parents to an alumna of Chapman, Alexis '07, who majored in creative writing, and sophomore, Vanessa '11, who is majoring in theater. They have been on the Parents Council Board since its inception in 2003.

Jerry’s undergraduate degree is from the University of Wyoming and he has a law degree from Arizona State University. He is a currently a practicing lawyer with an office in Santa Ana. In the past he has been president of the Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce, and is president of the Santa Ana Economic Council.

Gemma has a paralegal degree and enjoys volunteering in the community. She has co-chaired a Holiday Boutique and luncheon for Childhelp, an organization that fights child abuse. Also, she is a past board member of Fanfare (OSCHSA), has worked with the Tustin YMCA and her daughters’ schools.



Mark & Teri Kreyche P’11

Mark & Teri KreycheMark and Teri are delighted to be serving the Chapman Community and the Parents Council by joining its board in 2008.  Their daughter Laura '11, is a theater major and is active in Disciples on Campus. She is also a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.  The Kreyches, who met as undergrads at UCSB in the 70's, have been married 32 years and have resided in Tustin the past 26 years.

Mark is a Branch Manager for Scottrade, Inc., online discount stockbrokers, managing the Tustin office. Teri works part-time in the Woodbridge High School Library/Media Center in Irvine.  They have been active supporters of the Orange Lutheran High School Instrumental Music Program and are long standing contributors of their time and resources to community organizations such as the Orange YMCA, Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), and the Cordelia Knott Center for Wellness in Orange.

They are excited to be able to share Chapman University life with their daughter. Says Mark, "We've particularly enjoyed Family Weekend in October and Family Orientation in August. After experiencing those events, we felt very comfortable with the people and environment at Chapman.  This place is one big welcoming family, and there is so much going on that's fun and enlightening."


Bill & Deb Warren, P’10

Bill and Deb WarrenBill and Deb Warren became active members of the Parents Council soon after their daughter Kelsey transferred to Chapman as a sophomore in fall of 2007. Currently a senior, Kelsey is double majoring in European History and French and thoroughly enjoying Greek Life at Chapman.

As Midwestern natives, Bill earned his degree from the University of Wisconsin while Deb attended Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design and Milwaukee Center for Photography. They met while working for a marketing  firm in Milwaukee and moved to southern California in 1983. Married for 25 years, they have lived in Anaheim Hills for over 20 of them.

Bill is a senior Account Executive for EWI Worldwide, specializing in interior marketing concepts for the automotive and electronics industries. He is an avid collector of classic cars and an active member of the Cobra Owners Club of America, Orange County.

Deb has been an involved volunteer with Orange Unified School District for over 15 years, creating and implementing art, music, and science programs for elementary schools. She served 2 years as both the Drama Booster President and the Vocal Arts Booster President at Canyon High School. She is currently a Design Consultant for OUSD and is also involved with Habitat for Humanity, Orange County.


Maria Meyer, P'09 Maria Meyer and husband Larry

Proud parents of Champan alumna, Cristina Meyer '09, Maria Meyer and her husband, Larry, have been part of the Chapman community since 2005. Cristina graduated with a major in international business and a minor in Spanish. She was also active in Greek life and sports. Their son, Jonathan, is a college freshman pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering.

Maria believes in making a difference. She has actively volunteered her time for the students and parents of our university since Cristina chose to attend Chapman, and she has only strengthened her involvement with the Parents Council since her daughter's graduation. Maria also volunteers with the Anaheim Hills schools, the youth of San Antonio Church, Habitat for Humanity and the Be Aware Foundation - a nonprofit organization that empowers women and works for the early detection of cancer.

Larry and Maria have been married for 23 years and have lived in Anaheim Hills for nearly as long. Larry, a sales engineer, earned his degree in mechanical engineering from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Maria earned her business degree from California State University Long Beach, and worked for many Fortune 500 companies in the pharmaceutical industry. She currently runs her own business.

"My biggest accomplishment in this life," says Maria, "is the job I have done with my children and the difference I make in people's lives."


Grace Nahai, P'11, '12  Grace Nahai

Grace Nahai and her husband, Kayvan, have two daughers who attend Chapman - Tatiana '11, who studies business, and Karina '12, who studies film production. Their sons, Ashton and Nicholas currently attend The Buckley School in Sherman Oaks.  

Grace is very involved with The Buckley School Parents' Association - Chairing the school's fairs, evening events, silent auction and annual fund - and served as President in 2005-2006.

At sixteen, Grace moved to Los Angeles from Indonesia. She graduated from Beverly Hills School and has a BFA from Otis Parsons Art School. She and Kayvan own Naurelle Furniture and Lighting in Los Angeles; Grace has also started a retail clothing company called London Chic. Besides spending time together, she and her family are passionate about the Manchester United soccer team in England. They try never to miss a match and even wake up at 4:30 am to watch it live together!

"We are so grateful that our daughters have chosen to attend Chapman," Grace says. "We have peace of mind knowing that they are studying at a beautiful campus in a safe environment, surrounded by wonderful new friends. Listening to the happy and enthusiastic voices of our girls continuously reinforces how much we love Chapman!"

 


John & Sharon Deacon, P'13

John and Sharon Deacon

John and Sharon are honored to join the Chapman Parents Council and work with such an amazing group of parents. They are the proud parents of one daughter, Samantha Deacon ’13, who is a Communication Studies major with a minor in Public Relations. Sami, as friends know her, is very involved in Greek life, student government, working here on campus, and will be serving as an Orientation Assistant in the fall.

John and Sharon met while both attending Mt. San Antonio College, where John studied business and Sharon earned her degree as a registered nurse. They just celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary and reside locally in Anaheim Hills. John runs a hardware business, and both John and sharon have a second business selling promotional materials. They spend what free time they have enjoying their miniature poodle, Benny, or they can be found on a cruise ship, having taken their 24th cruise in June 2010.

John and Sharon have volunteered at every school Sami has attended since pre-school, so joining the Parents Council at Chapman was a natural step for them.  They believe a quality education, in a caring and supportive environment, is very important. “When our daughter first stepped onto this campus,” they say, “we ALL knew it was home!”
