Hosts Needed for Summer Welcome Receptions
It’s not too early to plan for the class of 2012, and Chapman is looking for families who would like to welcome next year’s new students and their families by hosting an informal reception in their home. If you are not close to campus, this is a wonderful way to volunteer on behalf of the Chapman Parents Council. Receptions are typically held in June and July each summer. If you would like to host a reception, or would just like to lend a helping hand with welcome efforts in your home town, please contact Paula McCance P’03,‘07 at (714) 628-7290 or mccance@chapman.edu.

In the Life of Your Student
For freshman students, campus is beginning to feel a lot more like home. Anxiety about relationships with friends and boy/girlfriends from home may add stress to your student's life. Midterms are beginning, and your student may be overwhelmed with the volume of homework and studying that he or she must do. It is often difficult for students to manage their time wisely, leaving enough time for studying as well as taking breaks to relax. Students must also start thinking about registering for next semester. Be sure to support your student during this stressful time; sending care packages is a great way to let your student know that you care!
Tips for New Chapman Parents!
Last month we asked returning parents to fill out a survey asking them to share tips about what to include in care packages. Take a look at the results and read parent responses yourself, they have some great advice and tips to share! View Results
Monthly Polling Question: Internships
Internships are a crucial part of your student's education. Even entry level jobs require some previous work experience! There are so many opportunities for internships in local businesses but getting an internship can also be very competitive. The Career Development Center, professors, academic advisors, and family connections are just a few resources that students may use to find a good internship. Parents of students with internships, please take our survey and share with other parents what your student's best resource was in finding their internship.
