Summer Welcome Receptions
For new Chapman families, attending a summer welcome reception is a meaningful step in getting to know Chapman, other families and students. Most of all it is a way to ease some of the concerns about getting your student ready to move to campus in the fall. These receptions are scheduled all over the nation this summer. For returning families, it is a way to be involved from your home city by playing a part in welcoming and reassuring new families that Chapman is a warm and welcoming place. Learn More
Orientation Information for New Chapman Families
The Chapman community is looking forward to welcoming new students and their families at this year’s Orientation entitled “Puzzles: piecing together your future”. This fun-filled week will take place Aug. 19-24 and will give your students the opportunity to get to know their peers and surroundings before the school year gets underway. Family Orientation is Aug. 19-20 starting with a campus community dinner on Tuesday evening and continuing through Wednesday with activities just for families. Business Office Offers E-services
Take advantage of Chapman’s online e-pay service when making monthly tuition payments.You will need to have your student create an Authorized User account to set up your e-bill and e-pay access. Login information will be provided to you via e-mail. Tutorials are posted online to help you learn how to log on, create your payment profile, view monthly statements, and track your payments. Tuition and Fee Master Payment Contract Due
Don’t forget! All new students enrolled at Chapman are required to complete and sign a Tuition and Master Payment Contract with the Business Office. If a parent or third party is responsible for payment, they must also complete and sign this form. The payment deadline for Fall 2008 is due no later than July 31, 2008, or the date registration occurs, which ever is later. If you chose to participate in Chapman’s Payment Plan, the first installment of 20% toward the fall semester is due no later than July 31, 2008. Failure to turn in this contract will result in a Business Office Hold and/or withdrawal from classes. Returning students need not submit another contract, unless they are changing the way that they make payments. Learn More
Alcohol Education for College
For the second year, Chapman University is requiring all newly admitted first year and transfer students to complete and pass Alcohol Education for College or "AlcoholEdu." AlcoholEdu is a proactive education alcohol tool for undergraduate students used at over 500 colleges and universities nationwide. The implementation of this program has proved beneficial to educate Chapman University students and promote responsible behaviors. Health Record and Examination Form Due
Remember that the Health Record and Examination Form for new incoming students are due by mid July and no later then August 25th to the Student Health Center. All new incoming students are required to submit a health history and immunization report completed and signed by their family physician. The practitioners at the health center need to have a current health status, documented health problems and or needs pertinent to your students’ health care, and current immunizations status. Students wishing to submit an insurance waiver must turn them in to the Student Health Center by Sept. 8. For further information, contact Julie Payn at (714) 997-6851. Learn More
Meningitis Vaccine Available
To all students who haven’t received a Meningitis vaccine and would like one there will be a clinic offered in Henley Hall on Sept. 10 for $135. It is on a first come first serve basis and will be held from noon to 7 p.m. For more information, please contact Julie Payne at the Student Health Center at (714) 997-6851.
Parking Permits and Vehicle Registration
It’s time for students to secure their 2008-2009 parking permit! Vehicles may be registered online, and the decals can then be picked up at the Public Safety office after July 1. Students not needing a parking permit should request a fee waiver. Learn More

Tuition Refund Insurance Policy
Chapman University has partnered with A.W.G. Dewar, Inc. to offer students and parents the opportunity to purchase an insurance policy for your college expenses. In the unfortunate event that your student should need to withdraw from the university due to a serious illness or accident, this elective plan would cover the cost of tuition, fees, and on-campus housing. The cost of this policy is approximately 1% of the annual cost of attendance at the university. This plan is optional and it must be purchased directly with Dewar before the first day of classes. Tom Campbell Joins School of Law
Tom Campbell, former U.S. congressman and California state senator and current dean and professor of business at UC Berkeley, has been appointed the inaugural Presidential Fellow in the Chapman University School of Law. He has a B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago, and holds his J.D. from Harvard. Beginning in January 2009, Dr. Campbell will join the Chapman School of Law for a two-year visiting appointment. He will teach antitrust, legislative process and a seminar on separation of powers. Dr. Paul Sherman Joins the Conservatory of Music
Dr. Paul Sherman will join the Conservatory of Music as the new conductor of the Chapman University Wind Symphony this fall. In the jazz field, Dr. Sherman has performed and recorded with the Dutz Quintet, GO organic orchestra, the Vinny Gollia Large Ensemble, and Yusef Lateef. On modern oboe, he performs with many orchestras on the West Coast. Dr. Sherman
will continue as the executive director of the contemporary music group,
ensembleGREEN, which premiered nine commissions this season, a performer in The Jealous Nightingale and conductor and music director of the Santa Clarita Valley Youth Orchestra. Learn More
Student/Alumni Spotlight: Katee Shean and Stephen Boss
Chapman competitors Katee and Twitch continue to surge ahead on Fox’s hit reality series “So You Think You Can Dance?” Katee Shean, a Chapman junior and dance major, and Stephen “Twitch” Boss, who attended Chapman for three years before turning pro dancer, both turned in sizzling
performances with their respective partners and easily were selected to move on in the contest. Learn More
Faculty Spotlight: Dr. Marilyn Harran Honored With Anne Frank Award
Dr. Marilyn Harran, Chapman University professor of religion and history, Stern Chair in Holocaust Education, and director of Chapman’s Rodgers Center for Holocaust Education, received the prestigious Spirit of Anne Frank Award in a ceremony on June 12 in New York City. Dr. Harran, a resident of Orange, was the only university educator in the nation to receive the award this year. Learn More

American Celebration Opportunity Drawing Items Needed
American Celebration is Chapman’s largest scholarship fundraising event. Opening Night is Oct. 31 and includes an opportunity drawing and a parents pre-show reception. You can help contribute to funding scholarships by donating items for the drawing. Consider dining gift cards, time-share weeks, sports and entertainment tickets; we can use them all and anything in between. If you would like to donate an item for the benefit of Chapman student scholarships, please fill out a Donation Form and contact Paula McCance at (714)-628-7290 or Gemma Wolf at (714)-745-3863.
Take a Seat Program
