Hosts Needed for 2008 Summer Welcome Receptions
It’s not too early to plan for the class of 2012, and Chapman is looking for families who would like to welcome next year’s new students and their families by hosting an informal reception in their home. If you are not close to campus, this is a wonderful way to volunteer on behalf of the Chapman Parents Council.  Receptions are typically held in June and July each summer outside of Orange County. If you would like to host a reception, or would just like to lend a helping hand with welcome efforts in your home town, please contact Paula McCance P’03,‘07 at (714) 628-7290 or mccance@chapman.edu.

In the Life of Your Student
Students begin to experience concern about final papers and final exams as well as some insecurity about grades. At the same time, students are experiencing stress related to December holidays and holiday preparations that require money and time spent shopping. Students may also have doubts about how to fit back into the family and routines when they return home. Students will experience mixed emotions as they are looking forward to seeing high school friends and may be sad to leave their friends on campus. When students return home they will most likely be exhausted and will have a desire to sleep a lot which could cause conflicts with family schedules and planned activities. Parents should discuss expectations about household tasks, curfews, use of the car, and participation at meals and family activities.
