FACULTY - SCHEDULE OF EVENTS - SHEET MUSIC - NOMINATION FORM - QUESTIONS

Chapman University’s Conservatory of Music is proud to announce the 2012 Honor Band Festival. Students selected for the Honor Band will participate in a day-long event, which will offer pre-professional training led by Southern California’s pre-eminent wind and brass faculty.

The event will also feature:

  • Side-by-side rehearsals with Chapman Conservatory of Music faculty including members of the Pacific Symphony, Los Angeles Opera, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and A-list Hollywood Studio Players. Performance selections will include:
    • Giacchino, Star Trek
    • Nelson, Homage to Leonin
    • Ticheli, Wild Nights!
  • Master Classes in the repertoire above.
  • Chamber concert performed by Chapman Conservatory faculty.
  • A student capstone concert in Chapman University’s historic Memorial Hall.

Out-of-area students must be accompanied by their director or an adult chaperone, and are requested to make their own housing arrangements at one of the local hotels as well as lunch and dinner arrangements.  This year’s event will be coordinated by Paul Sherman, Conductor of the Chapman University Wind Symphony and Daniel Alfred Wachs, Director of Instrumental Studies at Chapman University.  The winds and brass community of Chapman is delighted to invite you to apply to what we believe will be a rewarding and intensive day of music-making for all.  We look forward to having your outstanding students join us for this event!

This event is sponsored by the Chapman University Conservatory of Music, and is free-of-charge for all accepted participants.
