Sharp Three

Sharp Three

Sharp Three is a fresh new blend of the Oriental and the Western.  The latest self-titled release from Onigawara Records include nine originals composed by Goh Kurosawa (electric  & acoustic guitars), which he classifies as Global Fusion.  Main sources of the music are jazz, rock, Balkan rhythms, and Western classical music; however the underlying inspiration of the music comes from soundscapes and reflections of Asia.

Joining forces with Goh are Nick Terry (drum set, shaker, marimba, vibes and voice) and Kai Kurosawa (Warr & bass guitars).  The various new and traditional instruments the three cover together allow each piece to have its own unique orchestration, color, and sound, which is one of the many reasons they appeal to a wide variety of audience.  In addition to the trio, Goh and Kai have been working extensively together as a duo.  In 1996 the brothers received Grand Prize at Kankoudou Teen’s Music Festival held in Japan.  Goh’s ability as a finger-style solo guitarist, along with Kai’s command on his enormous fret board of the Warr Guitar, and alongside multi-percussionist Nick, Sharp Three creates a sound and unit that could not be heard or seen anywhere else on the globe.
