Margaret Dehning, M.M.
Margaret Dehning, M.M., associate professor of music is chair of the conservatory of music and coordinator of vocal studies. Professor Dehning also teaches voice and vocal pedagogy. Following her debut at the age of sixteen with the COTA Orchestra and Chorus in Los Angeles, she studied voice with the distinguished soprano Alice Mock at the University of Southern California. She has appeared with regional opera companies in the United States, and is an active recitalist in concert and oratorio performances throughout the Western United States and Europe. Recent solo performances include Mozart's Exultate Jubilate with the Karlovy Vary Symphony in the Czech Republic, Haydn's Creation and J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio with the Long Beach Bach Festival. Her operatic roles include Musetta in La Boheme, Susannah in Le Nozze di Figaro, Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus, and the heroine in Poulenc's La Voix Humaine. She is past president of the Los Angeles Chapter of the National Association of Teacher's of Singing (NATS), and is a member of the National Foundation Executive Board of NATS. She is active as an adjudicator and clinician throughout the United States and in Europe. Chapman University has recognized her with their Excellence in Teaching Achievement Award.
