Jenny L. Kim, M.M.
Instructor, French Horn
Jenny L. Kim is currently on the faculty of Chapman University and Biola University. Ms. Kim has won several awards, Grand Prize at the Rotary Club International Competition, First Prize in the Pasadena Showcase House of Design Instrumental Competition, First prize in the International Horn Society's Jon's Hawkins Award, giving her the chance to attend the International Horn Society's Workshop in Lahti, Finland. She was chosen among the scholarship recipients in the Los Angeles Philharmonic Fellowship in Diversity Scholarship and performed Mozart's Second Horn Concerto, with the LA Philharmonic under the baton of Grant Gershon. Ms. Kim enjoys a her freelance career in California as Fourth Horn of the Los Angeles Opera Company, Assistant Principal Horn of the New West Symphony, and Principal Horn with the Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra. She has performed with many orchestras, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Los Angeles Master Chorale, Pasadena Symphony, Santa Barbara Symphony, and she has formally been Principal horn of the Napa Valley Symphony Orchestra and the Fresno Philharmonic. Ms. Kim has also worked in the recording studios with John Williams, James Howard Newton, and John Powell to name a few. Ms. Kim has a Master of Music degree from the University of Southern California. She received a Bachelor of Music and Performer's Certificate, from the Eastman School of Music In Rochester, New York. Her teachers have included Brian Drake, W. Peter Kurau, James Thatcher, Richard Todd, and James Decker. Ms. Kim likes to craft and walk her dog but not at the same time. |
