Mr. Hancock will be entering his sixth year teaching this year. He conducts the University Women’s Chorus at Chapman University, as well as the choral program at Tesoro High School. Mr. Hancock also serves as the Worship Leader at Mountain View Church, and he does freelance work as a pianist, vocalist, vocal coach, accompanist, arranger, and recording engineer. Mr. Hancock holds a M. A. in Education and a B. M. in Music Education and a B. M. in Choral Conducting (Summa cum Laude), both from Chapman University, where he was a Presidential Scholar and was awarded the Choral Conducting and the Music Education Awards. Mr. Hancock’s choirs have never received below a superior at regional and national festivals. In 2005, the Tesoro Barbershop Quartet won the Far Western District High School Quartet Championship sponsored by the Barbershop Harmony Society. In addition to his work with the choral department, he has vocal directed and accompanied the last five musicals at Tesoro, Into the Woods, My Favorite Year, Seussical, Das Barbecu, and Lucky Stiff.

Performing has always been a part of Mr. Hancock’s life, and he has starred in such shows as Snoopy!, Godspell, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Annie, Peter Pan, The Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, Oliver!, and Hello, Dolly, and he performed the roles of Curly (Oklahoma) and Marius (Les Miserables) in revue performances at Chapman University. He has also performed several times as a soloist with the Cypress Pops Orchestra, and onstage at the Orange County Performing Arts Center and the Hollywood Bowl. He has music and computers teaching credentials, and is certified in the Kodaly methodology. He also received extensive musical theatre training while attending the Orange County High School of the Arts. He is a member of the American Choral Directors Association and Southern California Vocal Association. Mr. Hancock has been married to his beautiful wife and fellow music teacher and Chapman grad, Carly, for four years, and they currently reside with their cat Chiminey in Las Flores.
