Active as a composer and educator, Jesse Wright-FitzGerald has had his music performed throughout the United States. Mr. Wright-FitzGerald received his master’s degree in composition from Syracuse University, where he studied with Daniel S. Godfrey, and Andrew Waggoner. While there, he received the 2004 “music in the schools” commission from the Syracuse Society for New Music, and the New York Federation of Music’s 2004 Brian M. Israel Prize. Mr. Wright-FitzGerald currently resides in Los Angeles, where he is teaching and pursuing his Doctorate in composition at the University of Southern California, Thornton School of Music as a student of Donald Crockett and Steven Hartke.

Mr. Wright-FitzGerald has attended both the Bowdoin International Music Festival and the Aspen Music Festival and School, where he studied with George Crumb and Syd Hodkinson respectively. He is a member of numerous professional organizations including the American Music Center, American Composer’s Forum, and the Society of Composers Inc. Mr. Wright-FitzGerald is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers as both a composer and publisher.

His works have been read and performed by numerous groups and individuals, including the Cassatt and Degas string quartets (String Quartet No. 1 A Time of Desire), the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (Red Sky at Daybreak), the Syracuse Society for New Music (Visions from a Broken Land for mixed ensemble), the Sapphire Trio (Burning the Veil for violin, clarinet, and piano trio). Recent premières include Reflected Shadows (for chamber ensemble), performed at the 2007 Bennington Chamber Music Conference, and Sol, performed by the University of Southern California, Thornton School of Music Symphony Orchestra in February of 2008.
