Catherine Brady BM Vocal Performance A San Jose native, Catherine was born to be on the stage. She started performing in dance recitals at age 3 and at age 6 she auditioned for her first Musical production at the Children’s Musical Theater, San Jose where she has been performing ever since. Most recently, she played the role of Maria in their summer production of West Side Story. In the second grade she began piano lessons and has since received the Certificate of Merit award 5 times. Aside from theater and lessons, Catherine found outlets for performance within her school and church communities singing for Mass and various school events. Somewhere among her sport practices, rehearsals, and studies, she found time to explore the art of Composition. The Music Teacher’s Association of California, Santa Clara has recognized her for her accomplishments in Songwriting. She attended Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose where she was presented with many opportunities to grow as a performer. Catherine was an active member of the school’s Jazz Choir, Concert Choir, Comedy Team, Chamber Choir, and Theater Productions. Combining her passions of travel and solidarity, she stayed with a youth group in Chalatenango, El Salvador as part of an Immersion Program during the summer preceding her Senior year of High School. This experience truly opened her eyes and sparked a hunger for travel into her heart. During her time at Archbishop Mitty, she was selected as a member of an elite band on campus called Exodus. As a member of this band, she was challenged everyday and developed the necessary skills for achievement as a musician. Through her work in Exodus, Catherine has expanded her vocal repertoire from pop to blues and everywhere in between. The group performed throughout the Bay Area, recorded a yearly CD, and opened for celebrities Sinbad and David Spade. At Chapman, Catherine is studying Music with an emphasis in Vocal Performance. She has taken advantage of opportunities here and is active in the University Choir, Opera Chapman, and student-run a cappella group called SoundCheck. She is expanding her language studies and aspires for a music career that will take her around the globe. |
