Safe Space
Training Workshop
The initial two and a half hour Safe Space Training Workshop is an introductory workshop which works to assist individuals who wish to become identified allies on campus in exploring and increasing their own awareness and knowledge of the LGBTQ community and its history. It provides information and resources to assist allies in acting within the Chapman community. It consists of:
  • Definitions, terms, and symbols
  • Experiences from LGBTQ students about campus climate
  • LGB identity development
  • Ways to be a visible ally
  • Resources for the LGBTQ and ally communities

Developmental Workshops
Additional workshops are offered throughout the academic year to further develop allies in their awareness, skills, and abilities to understand and support LGBTQ students. Some possible areas of exploration include:

  • Ally activism
  • What does it mean to be transgender?
  • Intersection of sexual orientation and religion
