A.B., Rutgers University Judith Koffler earned her A.B. cum laude from Rutgers University, her J.D. from Boston University, where she was Articles Editor of the Law Review, and her LL.M. from Harvard, where she held a fellowship in Law and Humanities. She was a Fellow at the Society for the Humanities at Cornell and held a University Fellowship at the University of Texas, where she did graduate work in Classics. She has taught law at several law schools, including Syracuse, Rutgers-Camden, Texas, West Virginia, Pace, and Texas Southern, where she was a Distinguished Visiting Professor. In the spring of 2007, she taught Sales Law at the University of Southern California. She practiced corporate law with Jackson & Kelly in Charleston, West Virginia, and she opened the first mediation firm in that state. More recently, she has been mediating with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Los Angeles. She has held grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities and from the American Council of Learned Societies. In 1998- 2000 she went as a Fulbright Senior Lecturer to China and taught American contract law, constitutional law, and commercial law to students at Wuhan University. She has lectured at numerous universities across China. During 2004- 2005, she was a rule of law liaison in Khujand, Tajikistan (where Alexander the Great decided he had gone far enough). A founding member of the Law and Humanities Institute, she has written and lectured on Dante, Shakespeare, and Dickens as well as on bankruptcy, legal history, and freedom of speech. She has published in Cornell, Texas, Columbia and other law journals. She has been a volunteer teacher of ancient Greek to 4th and 8th graders and legal subjects at Sing-Sing |
