Robert Newman is an attorney in private practice in Santa Ana, where he is engaged in criminal defense, family law, civil litigation involving animals, and in consulting private veterinarians to improve their practices and limit liability. Mr. Newman has been a pioneer and leading practitioner in the field of animal law for a dozen years. His cases in veterinarian malpractice have been cited by courts and legal scholars, and widely recognized in the international media. Mr. Newman has lectured at Yale Law School, Harvard Law School, UCLA School of Law, and the George Washington School of Law. Mr. Newman has served as Chair of the Advisory Board of the Orange County Animal Control. He has been a member of the Law and Ethics Advisory Board of the California State Veterinary Medical Board, and he has lectured extensively to veterinarian associations throughout the country. Mr. Newman received his B.S. and J.D. from Western State University. He is the president of Therapy Dogs International of Southern California, and a member of the Animal Legal Defense Fund.
