Mr. Grierson is a principal in Grant Thornton's State and Local Tax practice in Irvine, California. He has more than 15 years of experience litigating tax matters, advising on tax planning activities, and managing audit disputes for clients in the insurance, retail, telecommunications, travel, transportation, real estate, e-commerce and financial services industries. He also worked as a litigator in a private law practice and served as a law clerk to judges at the U.S. Tax Court and the California Court of Appeals.

Scot has provided state tax planning and audit controversy services to numerous clients in the insurance, retail, telecommunications, e-commerce, travel, transportation, real estate and financial services industries. His litigation experience includes commercial litigation, bankruptcy, intellectual property and tax matters. His expertise extends to franchise tax, income tax, sales and use tax, property tax, city business license tax, employment tax, statutory credits and negotiated incentives. In tax planning matters, Scot has specialized experience in the insurance, financial services, telecommunications, entertainment, and transportation industries, as well as manufacturing businesses and high net worth individuals. Scot Greirson holds a B.S. degree from the University of Hawaii, a J.D., magna cum laude, from California Western School of Law, and an LLM in Taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center.
