Reciprocity PolicyThe Career Services and Professional Development Office is available to assist current Chapman University School of Law students and Chapman University Law graduates. Additionally, we are happy to work with graduates and students of other ABA accredited law schools located only outside of the Southern California area through the reciprocity process. In order to provide effective service to both our students and to visitors, please note the following:
- Requests for reciprocity must be made in writing (via regular post, fax, or e-mail) by the Career Services Office of the student's/graduate's law school. This must be done before using our Career Services and Professional Development Office. Please include the requestee's address so that acceptance letters may be sent to both the student/graduate and the requesting law school. Correspondence by e-mail is preferred.
- The requesting ABA school must be located outside of the Southern California area (i.e., Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, Ventura, San Bernadino or San Diego counties).
- When the student/graduate comes to our office after receiving an acceptance letter, he or she should check in with a member of the Career Services staff.
- Services available to the student/graduate include using our Jobs Board, office review of library resources and NALP publications. Services do not include access to On Campus Interviewing, job fairs or counseling. Online job listings are accessible on the same terms and conditions as the requesting institution. Reciprocal services are offered on the same terms they are granted to our students and graduates.
- Reciprocity is granted for a period of three months, after which time the student/graduate will need to reapply for reciprocity.
- No services will be granted between August 15 and October 31 or during the week between December 25 and New Year’s Day.
- The Career Services and Professional Development Office may restrict or revoke reciprocity privileges to any individual who misuses the facilities or services, or to any law school surpassing a reasonable number of requests within any academic year.
- Chapman students are limited to ten (10) school requests during one academic year.
- Please send your requests to the Recruitment Coordinator.
