Eligibility, Transfer of Credits and Cancellation Policy, and Other Information
Eligibility All students who have completed at least one year of law school, and are in good standing, are eligible to attend the Australia winter abroad intersession program. Otherwise, there are no prerequisites for the courses.
Transfer of Credits Chapman University School of Law offers 3 credits for each of the two courses on the program. Note that acceptance of any credit or grade for any course taken in the Australia winter abroad intersession program is subject to determination by the student's home school. It is also unlikely that participation in the Australia program may be used to accelerate graduation. Students interested in acceleration should contact their home schools to review this issue in light of ABA Standard 305, Interpretation 4.
Cancellation Policy
A. Cancellation by Student The last day to withdraw from the program and receive a refund will be December 1, 2009. Should a student decide to withdraw from a program, s/he must submit in writing a letter of declaration setting forth an intention to withdraw no later than the close of business on December 1, 2009. A student who withdraws from a program by December 1 will receive a full refund of all tuition fees paid to date but not the $75 non-refundable application fee. There will be no refunds of tuition fees after December 1. A student who withdraws from a program after that date will forfeit all fees. There will also be no refunds after the program begins, not even in the event that a student withdraws for reasons beyond his or her control, i.e., academic disqualification, medical emergencies, etc. Therefore, it is very important that each student consider taking out Trip Cancellation and Tuition Insurance.
B. Program Cancellation by Chapman University School of Law Chapman University School of Law reserves the right to cancel or alter the Australia Winter Abroad Program. The program is subject to cancellation if the enrollment is insufficient or if a State Department travel warning has been issued. Any cancellation or substantive alteration of the program will be promptly communicated to all applicants. In the event that the Australia Program is canceled by Chapman all tuition and fees will be returned.
If Chapman University School of Law cancels this program after a student paid a deposit, the Australia Program Director will use his or her best efforts to make arrangements for each student enrolled to attend a similar program, if the student so desires. If the program is canceled, all money advanced by the student shall be refunded within twenty (20) days after the date of cancellation.
