Other Events

In the Honors Program, we do try our best to keep ourselves stimulated in the most intellectual ways possible. Here are just a few pictures of some of the events, some spontaneous, some planned, that tend to happen frequently.

October 27-30, 2008

Dana, Devonie, and Jessee staff a table.

Heifer International is a non-profit organization that supplies families in need with lifestock in which to sustain themselves. The Chapman University Honors Program holds a bakesale every year to raise funds to donate to the organization. This year was our most sucessful to date! Congratulations, you guys! A special thanks to Chandler and Jessee for organizing the sale,  and to Liz for this year's T-shirt design.

First Annual Gathering of the Nerds
October 4, 2008

Parent-Alumni Homecoming Weekend is the premiere event at  Chapman University and we thought it only right to have our own Honors coffee to welcome parents, professors, students and alumni. And so, that is how our First Annual Gathering of the Nerds came about. Over coffee and refreshments, we conversed and reveled in the unique dynamic that is the Chapman University Honors Program.

Parents, students, alumni and
professors mingling, discussing
and eating. Always eating.

A creation that still boogles the minds
of most historians, Nerd Henge stands
tall and proud. No one is sure who
created it or when it was built. Shrouded
in mystery, experts can only guess it
was created sometime around
10:30am in Argyros 205.

Beautiful flower arrangements
adorned put togteher by the
Student Committeethe room.

Pat and Kailee.

THANK YOU!

A special thanks to Keely, Kailee, and Jane for planning
this event! It was so much fun and everything looked wonderful!

Bowers Museum: Terracotta Warriors
September 21, 2008

"Considered one of the greatest archaeological finds of the 20th century, the tomb complex of China’s First Emperor, Qin Shi Huang, features thousands of terra cotta warriors that were tended to protect him throughout eternity. Since their discovery, the terra cotta army has been termed the Eighth Wonder of the Ancient World. Terra Cotta Warriors: Guardians of China’s First Emperor is the largest loan of terra cotta figures and significant artifacts to ever travel to the U.S. from the First Emperor’s enormous mausoleum. The exhibition provides a deeper knowledge of this historical site and showcases 100 sets of objects, which includes approximately 20 life-size figures."  And we, the Honors Program, were able to visit this exhibition

Becky, Liz, Matthew and Kate pose with the live Terracotta warrior while waiting in the extensive line.

Sarah, Tim and Liz take their turn to pose with the Terracotta warrior!

The warrior was particularly infatuated with Pat and Sue.

Liz and Becky took advantage
of the free body painting.
Check out how ripped Liz is. Ridiculous. And see how
Becky's nail polish expertly matched the fringe on the flower-design? Masterful!
True work like this belongs
at a museum ... like the
Bower's Museum.

After the exhibit, the live Terracotta warrior performed
a unique and entertaining
dance routine.

Cake Day!
September 17, 2008

Cake. It brings us together on the best of occasions. Weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations are all made extra special by the wonderful pastry. And so, as a thank you, we celebrate cake in the only way that we only know how; buy one and eat it. Thank you, Cake,
for all that you've done for us. Here's to you.

Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting
andfudge filling, as featured in our
wildest dreams and this glorious picture.

"Om Nom Nom Nom," said Daniel Bulone
while eating a second slice.

Shennanagins! Thomas goes to smack Liz's fork full of chocolate frosting onto Betsy's face. Not pictured: The fork stabbing Betsy's lip. Also not pictured: Thomas' foresight.
