The Honors Program launched a week-long bake sale in December to raise money for the Heifer Project -- to help fund the gift of an animal for a family in need. Spearheaded by Spencer, who wore a cow costume -- even to class -- to attract attention to the cause, the group baked furiously at Diandra's apartment and then staffed the table 3 hours each day to sell the goods. Enough money was raised to purchase the gift of a water buffalo for a family in Indonesia, to help increase its rice production through animal draft power. Our thanks to Spencer for bringing this idea to Honors -- one he hopes to continue each year -- and to all the others who lent a hand and bought the goodies.
