A group of students met up to to honor Honors Director Pat See. 15 Honors students formed a team to run in the Race for the Cure. They dedicated themselves to Dr. See, and they all wore pins with her name on them.
Welcome Back Pat! Honors Forum got off to a good start on Feb. 5 with the return of Honors Director Pat See. Her smile and humor filled the room. She was presented a card signed by Honors students and everyone enjoyed some munchies—while recently returned study-abroad students entertained everyone with tales from their travels.
More than 150 came to watch slam poet Roger Bonair-Agard and Chapman University Honors Program graduate Mindy Nettifee perform in AF 209. Former Honors student and Chapman graduate Mindy Nettifee, also a Slam Poet who recently completed an international tour, performed first and then introduced Roger, a personal friend. Honors student Matt Celia, right, first asked if Roger could be brought to Chapman to appear.
Aaron Humphrey ('05) lost his trademark locks April 20, 2004, but for a good cause. His hair will be used to help create wigs for children who have lost their own hair during cancer treatment. Aaron donated his hair during a Locks for Love event on campus. It was amazing to see the before and after pictures of children who have gotten wigs through similar events. Shearing Aaron was Sandy Downs, who was really pleased to see Aaron’s curly hair: “This is a beautiful color and this curl—it’s great for kids’ hair,” she said. Anyone inspired by these pictures and who would like to donate their hair can go to Sandy Downs’ salon, Hairlooms, at 186 N. Orange Street. Call 714-532-1162.
