Honors Program Mentor Lunch and Orientation 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; Argyros Forum 201 An informal lunch for freshmen who have been admitted into the University Honors Program, to meet their mentors and other returning Honors Program students. Events throughout the year, including the fall retreat, social activities and Honors conferences will be discussed. Orientation will cover the nuts-and-bolts of the program, with the opportunity for plenty of questions and answers. An excellent way to find out how to become involved with Honors in the upcoming school year. |

Orange International Street Fair Grab a friend and head to the Orange circle to enjoy the sights,sounds and food at the Orange International Street Fair, featuring booths representing many countries. Starts at 5 p.m. Friday; opens at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Closes each day at 10 p.m.
Honors Fall Retreat Carpools leave Friday for Camp Whittle in the San Bernardino mountains and will return Sunday morning. We've booked Wagner Lodge, which has a kitchen, stone fireplace, great room and sleeping rooms. Always fun! No fee this year, by special arrangement. Cake Day -- in the lounge Stop by the Honors Lounge (RO 208) anytime between 12:30 and 4 p.m. for some cake. A welcome to new and returning Honors students. Take a break, satisfy your sweet tooth and hang out.
Bowers Museum -- Terra Cotta Warriors exhibit An outing to the Bowers -- to view the largest exhibit of the Terra Cotta Warriors ever seen outside of China. Emperor Quin's Terra Cotta army is often referred to as the 8th Wonder of the World. 1 p.m. at the museum. Tickets limited. Stay tuned for more information.

Honors Program coffee -- Family/Alumni weekend 10:15-11:30 a.m.; Argyros Forum 205 Honors alumni, students and their families are invited to attend. Renew acquaintances, share memories and visit with the Honors Director and faculty at this special reception that is part of the CU family-alumni weekend. See you there.

Heiffer Bake Sale Week Stay tuned for details. We raise money to help Heifer International, an organization that tries to ameliorate world hunger by giving livestock to families in need. Our past efforts have raised enough money to purchase a water buffalo, a Heifer cow and some chickens. We will need everyone's help: you can bake, help with publicity and/or help sell the goodies at our table during the week. Contact the Honors office for more details.
