University Honors Program - Nuts and Bolts for incoming students

This nuts-and-bolts session is for students who have been admitted to the University Honors Program. The director, along with Honors faculty members and students, will introduce you to the Honors Program and then answer your questions and address any concerns.

Honors Program Mentor Dessert Bash

An informal meeting with a dessert bar, for new students who have been admitted into the University Honors Program. Meet your mentor and other returning Honors students. This will be a chance for incoming students to introduce themselves and to find out about opportunities for becoming involved with Honors in the coming year.

Bring your appetite and  a towel (or a blanket) to sit on. A picnic for incoming students and their mentors is planned in  Dr. Carmichael Peter's backyard (right across from Hashinger Hall). Join us for food, dessert and games. This is the ultimate bonding opportunity!

Students, alumni, parents -- you are invited to play poker with the Honors professors. This fun event is to raise money for KIVA.  There will be great poker chow: hotdogs, grilled cheese sandwiches, salsa, chips, cookies.  You don't have to know how to play -- we'll show you.

Chapman University Toyota of Orange 5K Run/Walk
7:30 a.m., Chapman University 
Join the Honors team, and prepare to take on the Tutoring Center, in a fun challenge during this annual walk/run.  The Chapman University Toyota of Orange 5K Run/Walk occurs every year during Chapman's Homecoming weekend. The course takes you through the Old Towne Orange Historic District, including neighborhoods listed on the National Register of Historic Places, finishing on Chapman University's picturesque campus at the Ambassador George L. Argyros '59 Global Citizens Plaza.

Scribendi Deadline
The literary journal for students in colleges  and universities with Honors programs up and down the west coast is requesting submissions to be submitted by midnight on Oct. 17. Copies of past Scribendi editions are in the Commons.

National Collegiate Honors Council Conference - Phoenix
Seven students will present their research at this annual conference attended by Honors programs from throughout the United States and abroad.

NOVEMBER 2011
November Abstracts for oral presentations and posters for the 2012  National Collegiate Honors Council  and the 2012 Western Regional Honors council conferences are usually due before the end of  fall semester. Abstracts must be approved by the Honors Advisory Board before they are submitted to conference judges.  Learn how to submit a winning abstract. The 2012 National Conference will be held in Boston, MA.  The Western conference will be in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
