Professional Development Credits

The Rodgers Center for Holocaust Education will be offering 3 professional development credits, at $40 each, for teachers who participate in the Moments of Decision: Foundations of a Holocaust Curricula course.

Course Description:
This course is designed to provide educators with the foundation for creating a Holocaust curriculum that examines the role of personal choices in social and political history.  Through the Rodgers Center for Holocaust Education 2005-2006 lecture series, participants will explore how moments of decision transform individual identities into perpetrators, witnesses and rescuers.  Through preparing their students for the Holocaust Art and Writing Contest, participants will implement the curriculum.

Course Objective/Goals:

  1. Participants will explore how moments of decision transform individual identities into perpetrators, witnesses and rescuers.
  2. Participants will design a Holocaust curriculum based on the theme Moments of Decision: Perpetrators, Witnesses, Rescuers.
  3. Participants will implement curriculum in their K-12 classrooms.
  4. Participants will submit three pieces of student work (art, essay or poetry) to the Seventh Annual Holocaust Art and Writing Contest.
