Parents Leadership Society

A FOUNDATION OF EXCELLENCE

So many parents feel suddenly excluded when their son or daughter leaves home for college. You've prepared your child for success and sent them out to discover their calling in life, but finding your own role and place can be difficult.

At Chapman, we encourage parents to become involved with the university to help ensure that college life is a positive experience for their student. We'd like to tell you about some of the opportunities Chapman offers that will enable you to enhance your student's college education without getting in their way.

As a parent of a Chapman student, you have much to be proud of—the investment you've made in your child's future makes a statement. The school you helped your child choose promises to provide a personalized education of distinction; one that will help them develop their skills and talents and achieve their dreams. And, you have the opportunity to join with other active Chapman parents and become an integral part of the university community.

BECOME A MEMBER

As a member of the Parents Leadership Society, you will help ensure a foundation of excellence and directly shape the environment your child experiences every day.

The goal of the Parents Leadership Society is to provide support to university programs and projects that directly benefit the students. You'll join a dynamic group made up of other dedicated and passionate parents like yourself and your involvement will create exciting new opportunities.

In appreciation for your support, membership comes with exclusive benefits and courtesies. These amenities vary according to the level at which you join, but may include exclusive invitations to events, preferred seating at commencement, complimentary on-campus parking, and personalized parent concierge services.

Contributions made by the Parents Leadership Society will directly support student scholarships, research activities, internships, community outreach, new programs, and faculty recruitment, as well as other areas of the highest need and most benefit.

CREATING OPPORTUNITIES TODAY

Kelsea Ballantyne and Zach Bloomfield, class of 2007, are Chapman's first two undergraduate students to be awarded the prestigious Fulbright grant. Kelsea will put her Fulbright toward a 10-month intensive Bengali language immersion program in Calcutta, India. She will also be doing research on the effects of globalization on Indian women. Zach will study Arabic and French in Tunisia while researching economic development and its impact on young men in that country.

Kelsea and Zach are just two of the shining examples of the kind of alumni that Chapman strives to produce. As university ambassadors, they carry the torch of global citizenship, leadership, service and values-centered learning with them as they go out into the world.
