What is the Annual Participation Rate?
It is the total number of all alumni who have made donations to Chapman University this year divided by the total number of addresses Chapman has in its database to mail to.
Why is it important?
U.S. News and World Report ranks all colleges and universities in the nation, and the Alumni Participation Rate helps to increase our rankings.

Reasons That Every Gift Counts at Chapman
Need for Scholarships
Chapman University is a private institution dependent upon support from alumni for scholarships and other areas of need not covered by tuition. More than 80% of our students are dependent on some type of financial aid. 
Value of Degree
The better the reputation of the university and the higher the rankings in publications such as U.S. News and World Report, the higher the "market value" of a Chapman degree. Private funds help us to increase the quality of education at Chapman University, which helps improve the reputation of the campus.
"Area of Greatest Need" Funds
Chapman Annual Fund donations can be used for such things as library materials, lab equipment, computers and software, and other academic and operational needs not fully covered by the university’s annual budget.
Corporate and Foundation Giving
Corporations and Foundations determine the institutions they support by measuring the satisfaction of alumni that have attended that university.
Tradition of Giving Back
